International Women’s Day: EU lawmaker Lina Gálvez on online violence against women and girls and the need to regulate AI

This year began with an unprecedented wave of millions of women and girls being cruelly exposed. AI-generated sexualized images of them flooded X—without their consent. CCDH research showed that, with one click, X’s Grok AI generated an estimated 3 million sexualized images in just 11 days – most of them of women and girls.

To mark International Women’s Day, European lawmaker MEP Lina Gálvez spoke to CCDH about the terrifying long-term consequences that deepfakes can have on women and girls and the urgent need to hold AI platforms accountable.
