Who should be responsible for preventing online harms to kids?

We asked our supporters who they think should be responsible for preventing online harms to kids.

200 hundred people shared their voices with us. As promised, here’s what they answered. (Note: it was possible to choose more than one option): 

• 175 supporters voted for Policymakers and Governments  
• 100 supporters voted for Social Media Platforms 
• 77 supporters voted for Parents and Teachers  

Everyone should protect kids online, but there is only so much parents and teachers can do when they’re up against powerful social media companies trying every trick to keep kids addicted to their platforms.

That’s why CCDH created the STAR Framework, a blueprint for policymakers, governments, and social media platforms to build a safer internet not only for young people but for everyone. Only by regulating social media companies’ free rein, we can build better and safer online spaces.
